May 09, 2015 - Catching up

Hi!
I had done a couple of blog posts then learned that I needed to change the alt tags to help Google find my images and change the title tags to let people know they can click on the images to find out more information, so I went back and edited them all.

There always seems to be more and more to learn. But -I'm catching up - albeit slowly.

I still wonder if I'm doing all this in vain. There is so much work involved and I wonder if I will ever be found in any search ever. Most opinions of people that sell seem to be that if you do all the social networking that you should be fine. My problem seems to be that I really don't know whom to target as people that should buy my art. When I buy something that is only bought because it will make me happy to look at it, it's because I see it and just fall in love

What has ended up happening is that I've been in contact with many different fine art photographers and I have been asked to join some private photo communities and although they are certainly not my customers, they have been very supportive.

I'm not even sure anyone will ever look or read this blog, but if you do and like my work, please help share it. Click on the images and share where ever you show people work that you like. If you comment on my images, I also promise to visit your work.

Now to catching up with posting images that have been featured. I've done a couple dozen so far but have many more to go and many people to thank, so, I hope you don't find the blog too boring, but maybe you'll at least like to see the photos.

LONELY BENCH: When I took this image, I really wanted to share the feeling I got when seeing it. The bench had not been painted in at least a few years and the paint was coming off. There were leaves all over the bench, so nobody had swiped them off to sit and relax. The bench was under a pretty nice big tree and I could not help imagine a sweet couple sitting there, sharing their hopes and dreams. But the bench was empty. At first I took the photo as the way you normally would with the bench to the right and plenty of room to enter the photo from the left. Very traditional composition. But I wanted it to feel like nobody was going to sit there, so I put the bench all the way to the left and used the leaves on the branches to balance the composition. I also gave the photo a monochromatic grey/blue color as I felt it's like the minor note on a piano - it's moody and little sad; it emotional. I hope you like it.

FIRST SIGN OF SPRING You will find many of my images are created in the way this one is. I find the flowers outside and bring them in. Then I create a background and either add in in after the fact or print it out on my computer and place the flowers arrangement on it. It all depends on size and final intention. In this image, I love the tiny little flowers of the grape hyacinth. Where I live, they truly are the very first sign of spring. Like little blueberries, that pop out of the ground. In this image, I wanted to give it a bit of a French Country look, so the background should reflect that and the bit of raffia brings it all together.

SOFT WALKNormally, I'm not the greatest fan of spiders. I was taking a picture of this beautiful white peony when very softly, this white, quite translucent spider walked out from a fold and started to walk up the petals. I was transfixed to see it as it was so unique and almost pretty.

HARMONY When I saw these trees at the top of a hill in a frosty chilly day, I just loved how well balanced the two middle trees were, like twins and beyond another in between. Soft, elegant muted colors.

WINDFLOWERSWindflowers is a photograph of wonderful white anemones swaying in the wind. They also remind me of the lyrics of a song - Windflowers, my father always told me, not to go near them, he feared them, said they carried him away. I think they do the same to me as they make me dream of romance.

LEAN ON ME

Description

Lean on Me: 2 twin leaves leaning on each other to create balance and stand up. This was done experimenting on new ways to photograph leaves that was different from the traditional way.

PERSIAN LILACS IN THE SUN I have a lilac tree in my front yard that is a bit different from the regular soft lavender one. The flowers smell the same and have a similar shape but the flowers are pink instead and they bloom a week later than the more common lavender ones. The leaf is a little different too - not as soft and not as bluish green. They attract butterflies and even day moths. I will eventually upload some photos of these together. Here, this is simply a very large bouquet that I brought in to place on a small table by the window. The light come in and they are back-lit; so pretty!

FLOWER IN THE SUNFlower in the sun. This white cosmos flower being back-lit by the sun holds a tiny surprise. the tiniest little bug on a petal -- you must look for it though. :-)

GOLDEN TREEA photo taken in the fall in Sweden. The golden leaves are falling and the sunlight is softly shining through the morning fog. Quite mesmerizing.

ALL LINED UP AND READY An experimentation with refraction of water through glass. I love how they get all bendy. I also did this experiment with diamonds. Black and white and very modern looking.

PIERROT Done as an experiment with refraction through water and glass. I always find the repeat of the diamond shape reminds me of Pierrot. Love the bulge in the refraction. You'll find a similar one called "All lined up and Ready". This black and white photo has a very modern feel.

THE SAPLINGThe sapling represents the symbolic circle of life. Life to death and life again. I couldn't help but notice the analogy.
