Description
Jump In by Maggie Terlecki. I've never considered myself a street photographer as I do not have that special something inside that lets me walk through the street and not be noticed as I feel a little shy about doing it but I do occasionally take photos where people are in them. This mostly happens during some event where it's just normal that people are taking photographs such as at a fair or a sporting event.
This photo was taken during a Junior National Cup called 'La Tour d'Abitibi' which is held in my region each summer. It's the only national level bike race sponsored by the Union de Cyclism Intermationale and a precursor to the professional level of the 'Tour de France' . I like to go and take pictures as they speed through our town's streets.
This little girl was such a joy to watch. As everyone closely watched the racers, she ran up and down the sidewalk in her own little world. I took several pictures of her but this was my favorite. I know it goes against convention by cutting off her foot and her hands, and the other pictures of her are whole, but I loved how it showed her sense of freedom and abandonment and her leaping forward. I hope you enjoy it too!
This is a limited edition print. Once 10 prints have been sold, I will pull it. Next print to be sold will be 2/10 #1625002. This does not pertain to images sold on products or as greeting cards. Image must be 16" or more on the longest side (before framing). If you purchase an image from me and would like a signed certificate of authenticity as long as the above conditions are followed, simply contact me through the site, or the contact form on maggieterlecki.com and I will be happy to mail you one!

Like it in black and white Maggie. Sometimes you just have to capture the joy!
Maggie Terlecki replied:
Thank you so much, Joni and I think the lack of color stops it from taking over and allows you to make the image more personal and intimate. She was definitely in her own little world. :-) Maggie

Wow....Maggie Street :-)) just sooo dynamic this crop..making her jump in right into the picture !! The perfect convention...!! Don't excuse yourself for only shooting at events etc....I do that too mostly ! Your editing in b&w adds so much...you should use that skill more often !! (Humbled)
Maggie Terlecki replied:
Michel! Oh, I was a little anxious uploading this, wondering if you ( yes you! :-) ) would like it or not. I love your work so dearly and your opinion, especially on something like this where I consider you an expert with the genius eye, that I am so pleased that you like it a lot. Thank you for your very generous and kind words! :-) I just want to hug you now. LOL! Have an great weekend, Michel :-) Maggie

Hi Maggie! Yes this little girl is special. that can be seen at a glance. What a joy if must have been to see her prancing around. I worked with special ed. kids all my life (a teacher) and it was a joy every day to be with them. I was always amazed that one could earn a living being with the kids. ( I can see this girl is 100% okay) You brought back the memories for me today. fav
Maggie Terlecki replied:
thank you, Reynold. How wonderful that you were able to do such a fulfilling job, one that crunching numbers at a desk is less likely to do. I'm so glad you like this. I know it is not everyone's cup of tea, but I still love it and glad to see others that do too! :-) Maggie
