Yesterday, I posted my very first blog entry here on FAA. and today, I'm going to post more features. I promise by the end of the week, I'll have caught up and be able to post other things besides this but i really do want to thank group admins that have featured my images and hey - I'm sure you can all understand that I also want to show them off a little too. People often ask me why I took a certain photograph so I thought I'd share my reasons and I hope you find it interesting.

I do hope that some of you will take the time to peruse the images and I promise, if you leave me a comment, I will visit your image galleries also!

so without further ado, here are a dozen or so more features.

WALK IN THE PARK ENCORETaken in Sweden, in a small town called Kumla. It was a beautiful fall day where the fog hung in the hair for the entire morning. I will remember it, encore and encore.

INSPIRATION I'm slowing working on a series about things that make us who we are - humans - be it good or bad, it is what shapes who we are and how we live in our world.

SORROW OF THE LILY I normally like to bring flowers in to shoot because I want to create a concept and a still life composition. Sometimes, though, I see the shot and know that the flower is already doing what I need it to do. Here, with her blossom bend down and the bud (like a child that looked like it had died) I could vision the sorrow represented.

SHELL REFLECTED This image was done as a part of a challenge with a group of friends where we took a picture every day for a month, but where we had a list and had to follow whatever was on the list. This was for shell. I also did peanut shells, but, I assure you, this one is prettier. :-)

GENTLE While out looking for things to photograph, I and my son, came upon a small farm that had a few horses and we stopped to take pictures. The owner of the farm, had left a desk job to start a small farm with his wife. It was not a big farm, just a few chickens and a half dozen horses. This horse was a young horse that the farmer was particularly proud of. Gentle of nature and so beautiful. He was very curious and came towards us wanting to know what we were doing. It was easy to take his picture and this is one of my favorites of him.

Proud This is the same horse as Gentle but I wanted to show his beautiful head. Different from many horses, I think, although I'm certainly not an expert. I also liked the unusual composition as it is challenging what is considered rules - but once you know the rules, you can break them. I think it works.

ALLIUM BULB For anyone that knows anything about gardening, they will recognize that allium is in the onion family. A friend of mine, Marcy, has an amazing garden and this flower is one of hers. Unlike a regular onion, the head of this flower is about the size of a small orange and will blossom to the size of a large grapefruit. I really liked how the petals were just getting ready to break through the translucent onion like skin.

RISK Another from my series about human nature and how things we do, good and bad, shape who we are and the place in this world. I try to do this entire series without humans in them as, well, that would be too easy! :-D Here when deciding what to do, I thought that cards often represent gambling and taking risks and creating a house of cards falling just helped display how taking too much of a risk can cause your whole world to come crashing down.

BEYONDI live in a small town and behind my home, there is a gully and a path that goes all around it, which is easy to take a walk and you simply come back to where you started. On this particular day, as usual I had my camera with me, and the branches were almost bare, the leaves were mostly on the ground and in the distance light was shining through.

Dianthus These dianthus are the simple version of the carnation that everyone knows so well, from weddings and proms of the past. I must admit I prefer this more simple version. I also love their smell of cinnamon and nutmeg. Simply yummy smelling.

Belle Most of you don't know that I also draw and paint. I used to do traditional oil, acrylic and watercolor but in 2003, when I got my first digital camera, I fell in love with photography and now I mostly take photos and try to share my voice and vision that way. I do, however, sometimes still dabble in doing illustrations etc., and although sometimes the traditional way, mostly I do digital paintings as it's much cleaner both for the environment but also in my home and basically it is easier to work with layers to build up your image. Don't be fooled though. This is not a 'press this button' type of procedure. Each and every stroke is done by me. I use a Wacom Graphic tablet and a digital pen instead of a traditional pen or brush. I have a thing for doing fantasy creatures and Belle is one of them. She is tiny and is sitting on a pillow of dandelion fluff. :-)

UPSKIRT I know an artist couple that do sculptures and they have a Zen Garden. I went there to take photos and there was this very large Dahlia seriously the size of a dinner plate. When I take an image, I always try to see if there is a different angle. Here I found the back of the Dahlia as beautiful as the front and just couldn't resist. If you wonder why it is called UPSKIRT, my friend, Jan, mentioned how it was like a photo taken surreptitiously but naughty young boys with their cellphones under the skirts of women that were walking up steps. Mine is not quite as naughty but I thought it suited the image well. :-D
