Artist's Description
Angst by Maggie Terlecki. It's that feeling of butterflies in your stomach. The red background representing the fight or flight response of the body. The nervousness and the excitement. It can hit when you have a performance to do in front of people or when taking a test that is very important. It can hold us from opportunities if we let it. This image is part of a series I'm working called the 'Human Condition' where I take a look at what makes us human, and how it affects us and how we see the world around us.

About Maggie Terlecki
I'm a photographer from a small town in Quebec, Canada and I do mostly Still Life compositions and Urban Vignettes. I take pictures of things I feel a connection to, a way of sharing my feelings, my world, and my place in it. My approach to photography is essentially the same as how an author uses words to write a story. Hopefully, you’ll find my voice and vision within my work. I also do digital painting - mostly fantastical creatures like fairies.

I am intrigued by this one....wondering how you made this. Digital? Of course, but it's such a beautiful and complicated piece....wow. F/L+
Maggie Terlecki replied:
Nancy, the the skeletal chest was made out of poster board and and butterflies are all made out of paper. I had to redo the chest several times as the butterflies were just too big The butterflies are done by folding using origama techniques. I had a plain background and added graphic elements to try and create a sense of twirling around of the butterflies. I've always liked it because it was a piece I had conceived and worked so hard to create and had been quite disappointed that nobody seemed to understand what I was doing. Thank you for taking the time to take a good look at it; much appreciated!
