Description
The Pomegranate by Maggie Terlecki
The title of this image comes from the first stanza of a poem by the same name by Khalil Gibran. It goes like this:
The Pomegranate
By Kahlil Gibran
Once when I was living in the heart of a pomegranate, I heard a seed
saying, Someday I shall become a tree, and the wind will sing in
my branches, and the sun will dance on my leaves, and I shall be
strong and beautiful through all the seasons.
I was so pulled by the thought of the leaves here that appear to be dancing in the wind.
As a side note, pomegranates bring a bit of nostalgia to me as I first had one as a child, perhaps I was 9 or 10. It was not something usual and truly a treasure to receive. I would eat one small sparkling red seed at a time, each a beautiful jewel. Today, people throw handfuls in a salad or on their meal but back then, it was to be eaten slowly for several days and a true treat. I still like to eat them that way, picking one seed at a time... old habits die hard!
This is a limited edition print. Once 10 prints have been sold, I will pull it. Next print to be sold will be 1/10.

Revisiting your jewel !! Wishing you a lovely weekend !
Maggie Terlecki replied:
I missed this comment last week, but I think something was a little wonky with the comment queue. Last weekend was wild weather wise, as Saturday it was 12C and then on Sunday it became quite cold in within 24 hours we had almost 2 feet of snow. That's a lot of shoveling! :-) Maggie

Love the icy tones....the colors matching! F/L+
Maggie Terlecki replied:
Bit of serendipity about the color matching as I was lucky to find a branch of maple leaves in my yard that were still nice and red! Thank you so much, for the kind words! :-) Maggie

Gorgeous still and writing...I never ate one actually just like that...great work Maggie !
Maggie Terlecki replied:
Thank you, Michel. Yes, today, mostly you find them sprinkled on a fancy dish, both savory and sweet. Each little jewel is a bit sweet and a bit tart.. gives it a complex flavor! :-) Maggie
