Description
The Last Gardener by Maggie Terlecki - A surreal future I hope we don't have to look forward to - The last gardener oversees the growth of his small trees that grow under domes while in the background the overheated and dirty city lies.
Interesting fact is that all of this was created with items from my kitchen and the whole setup and shoot took me about 3 hours. It's the kind of thing when the juices get flowing and it thing makes you think of another and another and it all just sort of comes together
It all started with am upside-down metal fruit bowl as the biodome, then:
dead trees = cinnamon sticks
broken path = brown eggshells
pebbles = coriander
trees = broccoli
sand = raw sugar
small pond = tart shell, water and food coloring
grass in bio-dome = green tea
dry water-depraved ground = basmati rice and soy sauce
futuristic wire structure = wire whisk from my mixer
little tree greenhouses = upside down spice jars
robot farmer = wine bottle opener
farmer's bag of fertilizer = bag of tea
little air vents = tips for a cookie dough thingee
huge metal smoke stack = tube from cookie dough thingee
other thin smoke stacks = spices in tubes in a rack
atmosphere = recycling bags & cloud filter
I hope you enjoy it!

A wonderful and very clever creation Maggie, can't help feeling that this image should be circulated to all the politicians and scientists around the world as a warning!.....l/f
Maggie Terlecki replied:
Thank you so much for your kind and also interesting comment. I have to admit that it drives me a little nuts that some politicians still say there is no such thing as climate change... I do think most scientists already know. Thank you for your comment :-) Maggie

Absolutely fantastic, Maggie! Your creativity is relentless ... {& I love it!} ... Makes me think of the film The Martian {Matt Damon stars}. And you're right, I hope we never do get to this stage of human existence in our future :))
Maggie Terlecki replied:
Thank you, Connie. Now that you mention it, this does make me think of the Martian also, but oddly was created before the movie or the book. I had it in a file and almost forgot about it. I'm glad you like it and yes, I hope we don't end up like this! Thank you for your fabulous visit and your on going support!

Hi Nikon Nick. Thanks for visiting. I've been so busy lately, I'm behind in replying to comments. I'm glad you like it. It's a little out of the box but glad you found it to your liking. :-) Maggie

Your creativity made overtime :)) What an idea and such great result...and what a lot to clean afterwards or a lovely bunch to use for a real biosphere dish, since you were in that zone !!! The corkscrew is vital here and sets the scene and scale ! In my photoclub you would have received an A+ for the idea and for the execution 🤗
Maggie Terlecki replied:
Hi Michel. Thank you so much. Yes, when my mind starts to spin on an idea, things can get messy, lol; but I've heard some good things about messy girls.. Ha! And you are right, without the corkscrew the image really doesn't have any meaning but luckily we, human, see faces everywhere and the corkscrew having arms also, just really worked. I got lucky that things just came together! :-) Maggie

I can just see you as the ideas came one after another. What a stunning environmental statement! So creative ... bravo, Maggie! F/L
Maggie Terlecki replied:
Thank you Nancy. I imagine you often work this way too. It's such a cool feeling when the ideas flow! :-) Maggie

Wonderful creation Maggie! It looks fabulous. I have this vision though, of your family coming in to sit down to dinner and seeing this. Where's the food? Well, I used it to create my biosphere! Great fun!
